In compliance with IRS regulations, NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering must provide all students with a 2013 1098-T Tuition Statement. IRS Tax Form 1098-T summarizes qualified tuition and fees, any scholarships and grants received, as well as other information that may be useful in taking advantage of the American Opportunity, or Lifetime Learning Education Credit for the 2013 income tax filing year.
Form 1098-T is generated for all students who had a Social Security Number (SSN) associated with their student ID prior to January 6, 2014. If your SSN is incorrect or missing (perhaps you received your SSN after enrolling at the School of Engineering), please bring your social security card to the Office of the Bursar located in Dibner Building, room 201. We will update our records with your SSN and manually generate a 1098-T form for you.
Should you require additional information concerning how to avail yourself of the tax benefits associated with your higher education tuition, please visit IRS website at www.irs.gov or consult a tax professional. The IRS also provides information on Educational Credits online.
