SCITECH PROGRAM
(For Junior High School Students)
This enrichment program introduces middle school students to a broader understanding of science, math and entrepreneurship and how these topics relate to the real world. This program includes, biology classes (which include a lab component and science kits), math classes (which include a review of algebra and basic math), computer classes (which include using the Internet), preparation for the Specialized Science High School Admission Test (SSHSAT), entrepreneurship (studying the fundamentals of starting a business and managing money). The program runs from July to mid August. Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm and every other Friday for field trips to museums and research institutions. SUMMER ENRICHMENT
The SciTech Summer Enrichment Institute gives 9th and 10th grade students educational opportunities in science and mathematics beyond what is normally taught during the academic year and helps them advance to the next level of study. The program includes classes in chemistry, mathematics, computers and SAT Prep (the admission test for college). Throughout the program, students develop writing, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. Also included in this program are field trips to science museums and research institutions and special presentations by guest speakers on science and technology-related careers. The program runs from July to mid August. It meets Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and every other Friday for field trips.
