Polytechnic Institute of NYU has superlative computing facilities reflecting its course offerings in computer science and engineering and its place in educating today's and tomorrow's working professionals.
The Westchester Graduate Center's capabilities reflect Polytechnic's leading role in technological advancements. The central computer labs consist of a collection of top-end personal computers running the Windows 2000 operating system. In addition, the central labs also have a variety of server operating systems, giving students exposure to the most widely-used computing environments. The University has a fully wireless network (802.11B), enabling students to use their notebook computers to connect with the Internet and the University's many other online resources, including the Bern Dibner Library of Science and Technology and Polytechnic's many academic reference materials. The Westchester Graduate Center has UNIX X-terminal emulation on their workstations for direct connection to the UNIX servers. All computers are networked, allowing students to take full advantage of a heterogeneous computer environment.
