Biography
James Sillcox is the Director of the Wasserman Center for Career Development at Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly), the country’s second-oldest private engineering school.
A recognized expert in career services for students and for companies ranging from entrepreneurial startups to major corporations, Sillcox directs internships and career training, placement, counseling and preparation for all undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students in fields including applied sciences, technology management, finance and risk engineering, as well as traditional engineering. Since joining NYU-Poly, he has expanded career services for a school that is nationally recognized for its diversity and graduates’ salary potential.
Prior to joining the leadership team at NYU-Poly in 2011, Sillcox was instrumental in managing early engagement programs and assessing student skill development at the NYU Wasserman Center for Career Development. He also served as a liaison and consultant to launch the Career Development Center at NYU Abu Dhabi.
Sillcox holds a B.A. from Eastern University, an M.Div. from Princeton Seminary and an M.A. from NYU. He is an active member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and other professional associations.
