IEEE Signal Processing in Medicine and Biology Symposium (SPMB11)
Sponsored by IEEE Region 1 / NYU-Poly / CCNY
Signal processing plays a broad role in the development of medical devices (hearing aids, imaging equipment, etc.) and in the analysis of physiological signals (EEG analysis for epilepsy and sleep disorders, measurement of ERPs, etc.). This one-day symposium wll provide a forum for a discussion of ongoing research in the development and application of signal processing methods in medicine and biology. The symposium, sponsored by IEEE Region 1, NYU-Poly, and the City College of New York, promises to be a stimulating meeting on biomedical signal processing.
We invite engineers, scientists, practitioners, and students to submit papers for presentation in poster sessions or to attend the symposium which will be open to the public. Accepted papers will be published in IEEE Xplore online. The technical program will be posted on this site on November 18, 2011. The symposium will be held at 5 Metrotech Center on the Brooklyn campus of NYU-Poly.
This symposium is endorsed by the Biomedical Engineering Society.

- Analysis of EEG, ECG, respiratory and other biomedical signals
- Linear, nonlinear, and adaptive filtering and prediction
- Time-frequency and non-stationary signal analysis
- Machine learning and classification
- Multi-sensor and array processing
- Signal processing methods in bioinformatics
- Medical imaging - image formation, analysis, etc.
- Component analysis (PCA, ICA, etc.) and source separation
- Synchronization, coherence, coupling, connectivity and causality
- Artifact rejection
- Brain-computer interfaces (BCI)
- Nonlinear dynamics and system modeling
- Biomedical instrumentation for novel signal measurement
- Open problems, emerging techniques and applications

Prospective speakers are invited to submit a manuscript with authorsʼ contact information by filling the form below or by email to to biomedsigproc@poly.edu by November 11, 2011.
Please prepare manuscripts using the IEEE Latex or MS Word template.
Manuscripts should not be longer than 6 pages.

Late Registration (after December 2): $75 for IEEE members, $100 for non-IEEE members.
The early registration fee is subsidized by the Symposium Sponsors. Registration includes lunch.
