Urban Security Initiative

The Urban Security Initiative addresses pressing urban security problems through the engineering, scientific, management, and educational capabilities of Polytechnic Institute of NYU and collaborating institutions, industries, and public entities.

Many of the most pressing urban security problems are ones which a technological university, in partnership with industry, government, non-government organizations, and other academic institutions, is particularly well equipped to address. The Urban Security Initiative is addressing critical challenges such as the assessment of infrastructure vulnerabilities, improved emergency evacuation systems, optimization of logistical operations in emergencies, and many others.
