College Student and Faculty Development

For Students

KWEA is a consortium of colleges and universities that shares the goal of preparing students to become well-rounded knowledge workers for metropolitan-area industries. The Packard Center provides the coordination and leadership for the KWEA consortium.

Established in October 1999, this partnership enables students to earn a bachelor's degree from one of the member-colleges and a master's degree from NYU-Poly in a coordinated, five-year program. Students in the KWEA program complete their undergraduate requirements at their home college. Specific additional courses can be taken at the home campus, at other consortium colleges, or as an on-line experience. Once a student completes the required courses and develops the technical competence necessary for advanced master’s-level studies, he or she is admitted to one of several programs at NYU-Poly to complete the master’s degree.

For Faculty

Recognizing the need to expand the knowledge of college faculty in the emerging areas connected to KWEA — e-learning, utilizing the Internet, on-line portfolio assessment strategies — KWEA has offered annual faculty development conferences to improve instructional competence, stimulate creativity, build a community, and introduce new ideas. KWEA has inspired hundreds of faculty members to engage in course development, tutorials, and collegial mentoring relationships.
