Who We Are
Since 1996, the David Packard Center for Technology and Educational Alliances has supported high school students and their teachers to encourage the study of science and engineering. Our mission is to promote the effective use of technology, to encourage the study of science and mathematics, and to develop alliances between the Polytechnic Institute of NYU and community institutions.
What We Do
We extend NYU-Poly's commitment to pre-college youth through an extensive array of courses and seminars designed to train and encourage teachers to integrate the use of advanced technologies into their curricula. Our main goals are to:
- Ensure that women and minorities have equal access and opportunity to study information-age technology, computers, mathematics, and science;
- Provide professional development for educators seeking to enhance their students’ learning in the fields of science, mathematics, and technology;
- Build alliances with those who are dedicated to studying the impact of information-age technology on social, economic, and educational institutions;
- Disseminate new discoveries in high technology through publications, multimedia communications, symposia, lectures, and conferences;
- Communicate discoveries that enhance learning in New York City and other school systems;
- Help define the local, regional, and national agenda on the impact of information-age technology on education; and
- Provide opportunities for leaders and representatives from allied organizations to participate in the projects and activities of the Center.
