"I chose NYU-Poly for my M.S. degree in Biotechnology because of their part-time program. I started my degree in 2008, and in May 2012, I will graduate. Although my journey may take longer than most, it allowed me the opportunity to work and earn the higher degree I desired. Juggling work and school has been difficult at times, but for the most part the process was smooth with the flexibility and understanding of my professors and employer.
In my professional life, I work as a Clinical Scientist for a large cosmetic company that encourages pursuing higher education. I know that having a Masters in Biotechnology will benefit my job prospects by providing me with a different outlook as well as exposure to new testing and instrumentation technologies. Getting a masters degree provides me with a competitive edge over other employees and is an added benefit for promotion considerations.
I am very happy I made the decision to attend NYU-Poly. With great, knowledgeable professors throughout my time here, I am able to look at problems more critically and apply these skills in the workplace. This program is extremely accommodating and I cannot recommend the part-time program enough. My closing recommendations for incoming students are to spend time on campus, befriend your classmates, and, most important, participate in the activities offered by the University."
