"I completed my Bachelors in Bioinformatics in India and in 2009 joined the Masters in Biotechnology program. NYU Poly made it easy for me to adapt and switching to a new field of specialization was seamless.

The core courses in the Biotechnology curriculum ranged from Biocatalysis to Biotechnology & Healthcare, covering all the main areas of academic and industrial research. Each course began with the basics and then gradually introduced the newer concepts, which was really helpful as I was a novice in many of the topics. The assignments and projects, often based on original papers and reviews, helped us to practically apply our knowledge and prepared us well for jobs in industry and academia. We also had the option of specializing in a particular area of interest by choosing elective courses from a wide range of NYUís offerings.

Taking courses at other colleges under NYU was a splendid opportunity, introducing me to students from different programs and the Manhattan campus. The guided studies program enabled us to participate in research projects not only at NYU-Poly, but also at other academic institutions and in industry, which was beneficial for job prospects in the United States.  NYU Polyís CareerNet, International Student Office and General Studies Center assisted me with my job search, immigration procedures and showed me what the high quality of education is about. Now I am working as a research assistant at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Department of Cardiology and hope to enroll in a PhD program next fall. For me living, studying and working in New York City has been a wonderful experience."
