New Student Orientation is for all new and transfer Undergraduate students designed to prepare you for your academic experience at NYU-Poly. You will be provided with the information and tools needed to successfully acclimate to, and become an active member of, the academic community. Programs held on these days will be conceptualized around the following objectives:

  • Familiarize you with your intended major
  • Increase your understanding of the first year curriculum and its connection to your academic discipline
  • Familiarize you with critical first year support networks- i.e. Academic Advisement Center, Freshmen Programs, Division of Student Affairs

The overall goal is to create a sense of excitement, enthusiasm around the your major, while demystifying any preconceived notions about your major and college life.

These days are informational and interactive so that you can become familiar with the expectations of being a member of the NYU-Poly community. These dates are organized by your intended major so you have the opportunity to meet and interact with students and faculty in your major as well as Orientation Leaders and University staff.

You will meet with your first-year advisers, faculty and student leaders. You will learn about:

Academic Advisement
Academic Expectations
Academic Resources
Class Schedules
As well as other important information.
