BROOKLYN, NY - The NYU-Poly men's volleyball team recorded win number one on the 2011 season as they defeated St. Joseph's Brooklyn 3-0 in a non-conference match Thursday night in the Jacobs Gymnasium. NYU-Poly improves to 1-6 overall while the Bears fall to 0-2.
The Jays, who won sets by scores of 25-9, 25-14, and 25-13, committed just 12 errors on the night, but continued to struggle serving as they made as many service errors. Senior James Lukban (Bronx, NY) led the Jays with eight kills while juniors Domonick Dennisur (Kingston, NY) and Adam Lakawicz (Butler, NJ) and freshmen Fild Kroqi (Bronx, NY) all added six kills for NYU-Poly. Senior Tom Poppenberg (Springville, NY) led the way in digs recording eight, while junior Joe Gabor (Warwick, NY) had the server's touch with seven aces on the night.
NYU-Poly travels to Lancaster Bible College tonight for a 7:00pm contest.
