Detroit area alumni met up for dinner on August 9, 2011, at the Rattlesnake club in downtown Detroit. The dinner was hosted by Professor Nikhil Gupta, who was in the area to speak at the 4th Annual Advanced Lightweight Materials Conference and Kim Mackley, Assistant Director of Alumni & Parent Programs. Alumni who attended the dinner were: Lindon Ivezaj, Richard Terzuoli, Philip Bowman, Charles Davis, Richard Sbaschnig and George Abrantes.

On August 11, 2011, Poly alumni gathered for a dinner hosted by Development Officer Lorna Malcolm-Lessard and Assistant Director of Alumni & Parent Programs Kim Mackley, at Mitchell's Fish Market in Woodmere, one of Cleveland's Eastern suburbs. Alumni who attended the Cleveland dinner were Jerome Lando, Nobuyuki Nakajima, Joseph Kohn, Cedric Beckett, William McKenna, Frank Sterling and J. Lawrence Katz.

Many topics were discussed at both events including Poly's collaborative engineering and research program at NYU Abu Dhabi, starting regional alumni chapters and developments with the i²e Campus Transformation in Brooklyn.  Alumni enjoyed reminiscing and connecting with new friends.
