On June 29, 2011, Polytechnic alumni employees at InterDigital Communications, LLC enjoyed an opportunity to connect with NYU-Poly faculty at a presentation and luncheon hosted by InterDigital at their Melville, Long Island, office.
InterDigital develops fundamental wireless technologies that are at the core of mobile devices, networks and services worldwide. As a long-standing contributor to the evolution of the wireless industry, they solve many of the industry’s most critical and complex technical challenges years ahead of market deployment. Their advanced solutions support more efficient wireless networks, a richer multimedia experience and new mobile broadband capabilities. Accordingly, they have established licenses and partnerships with many of the world’s leading wireless companies.
Alumni had the opportunity to hear from NYU-Poly Trustee, Charlie Hinkaty ‘70, ‘72 MA, who gave an overview of the affiliation with NYU. They also heard an update on many joint projects between NYU-Poly and InterDigital. Faculty members in attendance included:
Elza Erkip, Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering
I-Tai Lu, Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering
Shiv Panwar, Department Chair, and Director of CATT/WICAT
Peter Voltz, Associate Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering
