On June 11, 2011, Poly alumni and their families gathered at the New York Aquarium for a fun-filled lesson on Robotic Fish. Professor Maurizio Porfiri and his team from the NYU-Poly Dynamical Systems Laboratory engaged children in learning about the different types of movements robotic fish can make. Controlled through an iPhone or remote, children were able to affect the amplitude, frequency and offset of flapping of the robotic fish.  Children also designed custom fins made of mylar, which were then attached to the robotic fish to demonstrate how different shaped fins effect movement.  Alumni socialized over lunch, and adults and children alike had the opportunity to explore all the wonders of the New York Aquarium.
