Myo Nyi, Matthew Moore, Justin Lin and Kaung Oo Han want to bring sustainable energy to undeveloped countries. Using livestock manure and oceanic salt, this group of innovative minds discovered a cost-effective method to provide power to places where there is limited access to electricity. Biomass energy is cost-effective and will help reduce the world’s dependency on fossil fuels.

NYU-Poly’s fourth annual Time Warner Cable Inno/Vention Competition drew a record 123 entries from among its own undergraduate and graduate students and — for the first time — teams from nationally recognized high school science programs. The finalist projects were not simply brilliant technical solutions: In keeping with NYU-Poly’s philosophy of i-squared-e — invention, innovation and entrepreneurship — the projects were also subjected to rigorous business analysis.
