With the joyous birth of a new iPod generation comes the obsolescence of the accessories designed for its parent iteration. Turn one such accessory, an iTrip FM transmitter that lets you listen to your iPod through a radio, into an FM transmitter you can use for all sorts of things: wireless microphone, remote control, prototyping/product development, radio relay. Recent NYU-Poly graduate Ed Bear created this project.

Materials

• Utility knife
• Soldering iron and solder
• Wire cutters
• Electrical tape
• AA battery holder (for 2 AA batteries) or a 3V DC converter
• iTrip (if you don’t have one, check online to find one — or many — on the cheap)
• Programmer for LPC 900 devices
