Polytechnic Institute of NYU honored its most generous supporters on Thursday, March 18 at the 2nd Annual Chevalier Society Dinner and Induction Ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan.

Named after Colonel Willard Chevalier, a 1910 graduate of the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute who began his career as a civil engineer working on New York’s subways and went on to a 23-year publishing career at McGraw-Hill, the Society celebrates donors whose years of contributions have totaled $1 million. Colonel Chevalier holds the distinction of being the first donor to give Polytechnic over $1 million throughout his lifetime.

President Jerry M. Hultin addressed attendees, saying: “Those in the Chevalier Society are the elite members of our family, our biggest supporters, and our dearest friends.  And though we gather tonight to honor these partners specifically, we are also, in effect, honoring NYU-Poly as an institution, its supporters past and present, and the students and alumni who passed through its halls and went on to reach the heights of science, engineering, and business.”

Ralph Alexander, chair of NYU-Poly’s board of trustees, presented stories of each inductee’s inspiring professional success and generous support. As they came to the stage, inductees signed the Chevalier Society Grand Signature bowl, symbolizing the indelible imprint they’ve made on NYU-Poly.
