On January 9, NYU-Poly hosted the FIRST LEGO League Brooklyn Borough Qualifer Compeition.
Nine- to 14-year-old students faced real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete a variety of tasks that simulated a real-life technological scenario.
The key to the 2009 "Smart Move" Challenge was accessing people, places, goods, and services in the safest, most efficient way possible. In this journey, teams considered many modes of transportation beyond their daily routine and streamline their options by making "smart moves."
The kids were judged on their research, robot design, robot performance, and teamwork.
The event is coordinated by Polytechnic Institute of NYU's David Packard Center.
