This course, together with its sequel MA 7323, provides an introduction to the language and methods of functional analysis. It covers normed spaces, Hilbert spaces, bounded linear functionals, Hahn-Banach theorem, the dual space, bounded operators, Fredholm theory of compact operators, self-adjoint operators, and applications to classical analysis.
