ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Mathematics maintains a high level of excellence in both research and teaching.
Its research is focused on the fields of applied supercomputing, convex geometric analysis, applications of partial differential equations to mathematical physics, and differential topology. The ongoing research produced by the department is funded by the National Science Foundation and appears in top ranked academic journals.
The undergraduate and graduate degree programs are small but highly flexible programs, where students receive close one-on-one attention from the faculty and are able to customize their own curriculum with both math courses, as well as courses from other departments. Its professors and instructors have been honored with teaching awards by the Polytechnic students in four out of the last six years.
