Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

SHRM is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 180,000 individual members, the Society's mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most essential and comprehensive resources available. As an influential voice, the Society's mission is also to advance the human resource profession to ensure that HR is recognized as an essential partner in developing and executing organizational strategy. Founded in 1948, SHRM currently has more than 500 affiliated chapters within the United States and members in more than 100 countries.

The student chapter at the Polytechnic Institute of NYU consists of several students who are interested in the HR field or those who simply want to explore aspects of HR that will aid them in their professional careers.

The SHRM student chapter at Polytechnic Institute of NYU is 12 years old and during that time it has been awarded 9 Superior Merit Awards by national SHRM for its innovative activities. The SHRM members at Polytechnic are typically enrolled for the M.S. in Organizational Behavior, a pioneering degree program established over 25 years ago. The students in the program pursue concentrations in either human resource management, training and development or the management of change. NYU-Poly Students include human resource practitioners who are upgrading or updating their knowledge, as well as those from diverse backgrounds who are changing careers and preparing themselves to become HR professionals and managers.

Student Society of Business & Technology

The Society for Business & Technology Management was created by undergraduate management students at Polytechnic Institute of NYU in a continuing effort to grow in the knowledge of Business and technology management by bridging the gap between the classroom and industry.

Initial planning took place in the fall of 2003, when the constitution was written and ratified. A strategic goal was developed by the students that sought to provide services and opportunities that are tailored to needs of those with an interest in business and technology within the Polytechnic community. The club was launched at the beginning of the spring 2004 semester. Membership is open to all students at Polytechnic Institute of NYU.
