Current areas of interest include Vortex Shock Interactions and Vortex Breakdown, Development of Advanced natural Gas Fired Energy Systems, Supersonic Jet Flows, Laser-Based Measurement Technology, Sound Wave – Plasma Interaction, Robotics and Supply Chain Automation.

The undergraduate laboratories in the University are well-equipped, and located in modern facilities with excellent resources. The laboratories available to Mechanical Engineers include the Design Center, the CADEM laboratory (computer-aided design, engineering, and manufacturing), the Materials Laboratory, a multimedia laboratory with a professional video editing capabilities and the fluids mechanics and heat transfer laboratory.
