Women's Summit 2013

Building Your Network to Cultivate Excellence

What is NYU-Poly’s Women’s Summit?

The summit exists to empower NYU-Poly’s women students by building connections to faculty, alumna and each other, while providing resources for and promoting discussion of issues and topics relevant to women in STEM.  Each year the summit focuses on sharing knowledge, experience and expertise with NYU-Poly’s female community and the STEM community at NYU’s Washington Square Campus.

What can I expect from the 2013 Women’s Summit?

This year’s summit looks to build upon the success of last year’s inaugural mini-summit. The opening dinner on Thursday will feature NASA Aerospace Engineer Dr. Aprille Ericsson, and Friday will bring a full day of faculty presentations, concurrent workshops, an alumnae panel, and the Society for Women Engineer’s Dress for Success.

Each aspect of the summit will build upon this year’s theme “Building Your Network to Cultivate Excellence.” When discussing this year’s direction for the summit, planners readily agreed that we wanted each of our participants to see the summit as a space dedicated to them – a time for interacting with new ideas and people, but one that ultimately allows each individual to reflect on their own purpose and ambition. This year’s summit is dedicated to providing students with opportunities for discussion, skill building, idea exchange, and networking – all focused toward continuing to build a network of people, ideas, and resources that move each student closer to their own conception of personal excellence.
