The NYU-Poly Civility Campaign, an effort led by the Office of Student Activities and Resource Center, is a campus-wide initiative to encourage faculty, staff and students to embrace civility, be responsible, respectful, and engaged community members.
The NYU-Poly Office of Student Activities and Resource Center values a broad and inclusive campus learning experience where its members embrace core values of mutual respect, academic excellence, open inquiry, free expression, and respect for diversity. We hope that these community values define civility and will permeate throughout the entire campus community. Thorough this campaign, our goal is to create and sustain a community that demonstrates respect for oneself and for others, the ability to treat others with dignity, and initiate behaviors which promote a physically and psychologically safe, secure, and supportive climate enabling all community members to engage as full and active participants where the free flow of ideas are encouraged and affirmed.
Furthermore, the campaign also strongly encourages students to facilitate communication, understanding, and respect to all members of NYU-Poly through systematic inquiry and discussion as a means to evoke deeper awareness, personal development, and growth. Our vision is to create forums and opportunities for all campus community members to further expand these concepts in order to continually move toward the strengthening of critical dialogue and an inclusive campus climate.
