Graduation

NYU-Poly degrees are conferred twice a year, typically at the end of January and mid-May.

Students must file a formal application via PeopleSoft Self-Service to be awarded a degree from NYU-Poly.  Application deadline dates for each semester are published in the academic calendar, and eligible students are emailed when each graduation application period opens.  Students who do not apply by the deadline must apply to become candidates for the next conferral period.  

The deadline for May 2013 graduation applications is Friday, February 22, 2013.

Diplomas

Diplomas are issued to a graduate only once.  Diplomas are printed twice a year, typically within eight weeks from the degree conferral date. Degree recipients are emailed after conferral with diploma mailing/pickup information. 

Diplomas of students with outstanding financial obligations will be held until such obligations to the Institute are fulfilled and holds are cleared by the Office of Student Financial Services.

The diploma is a valuable document and deserves special care against loss or damage.  As an aid to preservation, it is recommended that the document be kept in a flat position, preferably in a frame. If displayed, it should be in some location not regularly exposed to direct sunlight.

Replacement Diplomas

Diplomas are issued only once, subject to the exceptions noted below. In order to assure the absolute integrity of the document, NYU-Poly will under no circumstances issue a duplicate of an outstanding original. 

In the event your diploma is lost or damaged, NYU-Poly will supply, upon proper deposition and the payment of a fee to cover the cost, a replacement diploma. Before issuing the replacement we require the return of the damaged diploma, or such portions of it as are available; or, in the case of loss or complete destruction, the submission of a notarized affidavit. You may download the form of affidavit. 

A check or money order in the amount of $50.00 payable to Polytechnic Institute of New York University should accompany your order. Credit cards are not accepted. 

Diplomas cannot be ordered by a third party. The replacement diploma will be mailed approximately 1-2 weeks after the receipt of this form.

The name on your replacement diploma will be the same as on your NYU-Poly record and the original date of conferral will be printed.  A replacement diploma will be printed with the Institution name at the time of the your degree conferral.  Replacement diplomas display the signatures of the current NYU-Poly officials.
