1098-T Tax Info

In compliance with IRS regulations, Polytechnic Institute of NYU must provide all students with a 2011 1098-T Tuition Statement. Form 1098-T summarizes qualified tuition and fees, any scholarships and grants received, as well as other information that may be useful in taking advantage of the American Opportunity, or Lifetime Learning Education Credit for the 2011 income tax filing year.

Form 1098-T is generated for all students who had a Social Security Number (SSN) associated with their student ID prior to January 17, 2011. If your SSN is incorrect or missing (perhaps you received your SSN after enrolling at NYU-Poly), please bring your social security card to the Office of Student Financial Services located in Jacobs Building, room 256. We will update our records with your SSN and manually generate a 1098-T form for you.

Should you require additional information concerning how to avail yourself of the tax benefits associated with your higher education tuition 1098-T, consult a tax professional. The IRS also provides information on Educational Credits online.
