Gabor's PK sends Jays to Semi-finals

Jays down Maritime in thrilling Quarterfinal battle 1-0 in 2OT

Throgs Neck, NY -  There have been a lot of firsts for the NYU-Poly men's soccer team this year, but none so far means as much as the Jays first-ever postseason playoff victory. In a game that looked certain to go to penalty kicks, it was, in fact, a PK that decided it, as sophomore captain Joe Gabor (Warwick, NY / Warwick HS) converted the opportunity in the 105th minute to give Poly the 1-0 double-overtime, golden goal win.

Poly will now play St. Joseph's (LI) on Friday in the Skyline Conference Semi-finals. The other matchup will pit Old Westbury at Farmingdale.

Jays go 1-2 at Hunter Invitational

Beat St. Joseph's, but fall to Hunter and U.of Michigan-Dearborn

Manhattan, NY - It was a good tune up for the Skyline Championships as NYU-Poly played some tough competition at the Hunter Invitational Saturday. After downing Skyline Conference foe (and #2 seed St. Joseph's) in four sets, 18-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22, the Jays didn't play their sharpest against a solid Hunter College squad. The result was a tight three set loss, 17-25, 23-25, 21-25.

The Jays finished out the competition playing NAIA powerhouse University of Michigan - Dearborn. Despite losing in three sets the Jays managed a respectable showing losing 16-25, 14-25, 15-25.  Junior, outside hitter, Meredith Shipman (Sugarland, TX / Elkins HS) was named to the All-Tournament team.
