In the last decade, two transforming technologies appeared: wireless (think cell phones) and the Internet.
In the coming years, these two technologies will converge into a single force that has the potential to revolutionize the way business and communications are conducted. A New Program for a New Age To educate executives for this new era, Polytechnic University has developed a new degree program specifically designed for working professionals. This new graduate-level program features an interdisciplinary approach. As a combined effort of the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer and Information Science, and Management, the program features relevant courses from each of these fields. The program offers its participants a unique educational experience to be at the forefront in the frontier of the new economy. Students are exposed to the important technological and business concepts in this burgeoning field, and emerge equipped to become its leaders. Why on Long Island? Polytechnic has a long and distinguished track record of educating the engineering workforce throughout the New York region. Its new Long Island Graduate Center in Melville is structured specifically to help working professionals continue their career development through graduate-level education. The Master of Engineering: Wireless Innovation program has been developed by Polytechnic in partnership with some of Long Island's largest technology-oriented firms. The need for their executives to be trained in this area, now and in the years to come, is evident by their enthusiastic support for this venture. Entrance Requirements Because of the technological orientation of the wireless field, it is recommended that participants have an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science or computer engineering. Admission is based on an in-depth evaluation of the applicant's academic record, work experience and overall academic qualification. Although the program includes intensive work in technology and management issues, GRE and GMAT tests are not required. Applicants must show strong motivation, ability to undertake the rigors of the two-year program and the promise of future career advancement. Because of the heavy demands of the program, it is important that your management know of your commitment to furthering you job skills and support you in this effort. Degree Requirements For more information on the program curriculum please see the department website.
