About the Position

The Digital Media Research Academic Advisor will assist the Director in the administration and coordination of activities in the Integrated Digital Media academic program. S/he will advise students enrolled in IDM courses, and will support IDM faculty and students.  The Academic Advisor will implement the course schedule in consultation with the IDM director and others.  S/he will also have responsibility for identifying and planning regular events to build bridges to the IDM professional community and to support recruitment of students to the IDM program.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Undergraduate and Graduate students for registration and throughout the semester to ensure academic requirements are being met
  • Coordinate and schedule courses with IDM faculty, working with other Poly and NYU faculty and staff as needed
  • Organize and oversee portfolio review and interviews of applicants for Graduate Selection Committee
  • Answer queries from potential students interested in the BS or MS in DM degree
  • Identify and plan regular events for IDM with the professional IDM community and with prospective IDM students
  • Perform other duties as required by Director of IDM and Department Head of TCS

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Digital Media or related field
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop, HTML, Microsoft Word
  • Strong connections to regional IDM professional community
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational skills
  • Must be dependable, proactive, and able to work with a wide range of faculty and staff from across Poly and NYU
  • Competence to work independently and problem solve with a high level of attention to detail
  • Student-centered attitude
