About the Position

Objective:
• Play a leadership role in major and principle gift cultivation and solicitation efforts for the department while providing programmatic input.  Work collaboratively with senior leadership to design and manage gift giving strategy and planning.
 

Responsibilities

• Responsible for developing high-level new and existing internal and external partnerships to advance fundraising goals that match institutional program needs with donor interest
• Serve as a leader for the development team and the department in support of the Vice President of Development & Alumni Relations
• Cultivate and solicit major and principle-level gifts in the U.S. and globally (with an emphasis on Asia) from alumni, parents, and friends of NYU-Poly to support priority programs and initiatives
• Identify, prioritize, manage and grow a portfolio of prospects and new donors
• Develop and manage cultivation activities and events as part of a larger departmental strategic plan for prospect identification and cultivation
• Work collaboratively with student groups and the Director of Alumni Relations to create more opportunities to build meaningful and strategic relationships for students with alumni and corporate partners both domestically and abroad. 
• Strengthen and grow fundraising and stewardship programs to support the near-and long-term goals of the institution.
 

Education Requirements

• BS or BA (MS/MA preferred) plus seven to ten years+ progressively responsible experience in fundraising, cultivation and stewardship of donors that includes a proven track record of asking and closing gifts in an academic and/or other complex non-profit environment.

Experience Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills
• Ability to take initiative, collaborates with others, and adapt to a changing, dynamic environment, while maintaining high level of confidentiality.
• Ability to liaise with NYU-Poly president and administrative leaders to strategically align school and program needs with interests and resources of donors.
• Knowledge of planned giving basics and its application.
• Working knowledge of various software applications including fundraising software: Raiser’s Edge or Advance and Microsoft office suite.
• Working knowledge of Asian languages (spoken Mandarin Chinese) a plus.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. 
• Possesses valid driver’s license or ability to obtain same.
• Extensive local, national and international travel will be required.
• Commitment to professionalism and a grand sense of humor.
