Key Features

BEST Commercialization Network
The BEST center provides access to a collaborative project management business software/application, a full service on-line marketing and sales network and resources and access to business advisors and university professors.  The vision is to also to make the NYU-Poly incubator website a model for the New York commercialization initiative. We would like to follow the model of a “networked incubator”- one that has mechanisms to foster partnerships among start-up teams and other successful Internet-oriented firms, thus facilitating the flow of knowledge and talent across companies and the forging of marketing and technology relationships between them. With the help of such a networked website, start-ups can network to obtain resources and partner with others quickly allowing them to establish themselves in the marketplace ahead of competitors.


Access to Students
The BEST center provides access to excellent and high quality graduate and undergraduate students who attend the University. These students are technically proficient in programming languages such as C++, Java, MS .Net, Perl etc. There are also business and management students who are well suited for writing business plans, market reviews and analysis.  All of these student participants are employees of the BEST center but paid for through work agreements with the various tenants.  The BEST center currently employees over 30 students and that number is growing steadily.


Virtual Tenant Lease Agreement
Since February 2008, BEST has setup a virtual tenant lease agreement whereby companies located in remote locations or companies not wanting immediate physical office space in the incubator can partner with the BEST center and have access to all the facilities and the network offered by BEST. This includes access to students, the commercialization network and the university resources in general. This new leasing strategy has so far proved to be extremely well received and the BEST center has already six virtual tenants and at least 10 new applications.
Current participating companies: GrowthRoots, NetTeam Server, Binary Bits, Fair Choice Systems, August Ninth Analyses, KarmaSoft. 

Links with Other New York based Organizations, Incubators and Associations

BEST has established close professional working relationships with several NYC based organizations and associations such as the Business Incubator Association of New York State, Inc (BIANYS), Industrial and Technology Assistance Corporation (ITAC), the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and the Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation. These networks have proven to be invaluable for resources, contacts, models and networks.
