| This initiative will allow the individual to expand upon NYU-Poly’s exceptional strength in multimedia networking, multimedia content processing, multimedia security, and Web search, by developing new multimedia applications that address emerging cultural, social and economic challenges and opportunities. The recent affiliation between New York University and Polytechnic Institute has positioned NYU-Poly for exceptional growth. The Multimedia initiative was created as part of NYU-Poly’s growth and development phase and its recent heightened focus in infusing i2e- invention, innovation and entrepreneurship- throughout its curriculum and programming.
This individual will be expected to effectively collaborate across traditional departmental boundaries and with the schools of NYU, as well as to forge partnerships with corporations, government agencies, think tanks, and other universities, to create and apply multimedia innovations to address the challenges of the future world. As such, demonstrated experience in and commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration within and/or outside of academia is highly desirable. This exciting opportunity will allow candidates wide discretion in shaping the initiative, including having the opportunity to recruit additional faculty to engage in complementary research initiatives. |
