Polytechnic Institute of NYU, Class of 2007
High School: Brooklyn Technical High School, Class of 2003
I am currently finishing up a BS degree in Computer Engineering and an MS degree in Electrical Engineering. I have received numerous employment offers, and have decided to pursue a career as an Electrical Engineer with the Raytheon Company. Even before coming to Poly, I knew I wanted to study Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), so after graduating from Brooklyn Tech H.S. with a gold medal in ECE, I decided to continue my studies at Polytechnic Institute of NYU. I knew that I would eventually want an MS degree, so I applied to the BS/MS program and the Honors College. This allows me to complete both, the BS and MS degrees in just four years, and has saved me the expenses associated with paying for graduate school. As part of the BS/MS program, I am doing research in the area of control theory and writing a Master's Thesis on parameter identification and control of induction motors. NYU-Poly provides numerous opportunities to participate in clubs and organizations, and I am the treasurer of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society and a member of Eta Kappa Nu ECE Honor Society. The Honors College has been of great help in achieving my goals. I was able to attend special sections of classes composed only of Honors students and taught by specially selected faculty. Being in a group with very bright people has motivated me to succeed and has taken my education to a different level, thus helping me to receive the Rosenthal award for being the best in my major. Furthermore, The Honors College pairs up students with faculty mentors chosen from the students’ field of interest. This is a good chance for students to learn more about research opportunities early on in their education and extend their experience beyond the classroom and into the lab. Just like everyone, Honors students like to have fun, so the Honors College frequently organizes activities which include skiing and white water rafting. I highly recommend NYU-Poly and the Honors College to all students. The Polytechnic Institute of NYU Honors College creates tremendous opportunities for you to make the most of your education.
