Additionally, General Studies students are limited to 12 credits in their first semester of study.

Question : What if I can’t make the Summer Program?

However, if you do well at the end of the first semester, you will be allowed to take four courses (full-load) in the spring semester.

Question : If I’m only allowed three courses in the first semester, wouldn’t I be behind by one course? When can I make up that course?
Answer : Yes, you will be behind by one course. You can always make up that course during the summer following your freshmen year.

Question : When can I change my major?
Answer : We expect you to finish your freshmen year before choosing a major. This is not a problem since most freshmen take a common core curriculum. Your adviser will be working closely with you to make sure that the courses you are taking in your freshmen year will transfer into other majors.

Question : What happens at the end of my freshmen year?
Answer : If you complete the General Studies Program as stated in the General Studies Program Description, you will be retained at the University and will move on to a major department.
