Dr. Katherine Isbister will give a talk about her Social Game Lab research at the Brutally Unfair Game Bash at Babycastles, New York's first independent games arcade. Frank Lantz, creative director and co-founder, of Area/Code, the game development agency, will also give a talk.
Dr. Isbister is an associate professor of digital media with a joint appointment in the Humanities and Social Science and Computer Science and Engineering Departments. She is also the director of the Social Game Lab. She researches and designs digital games and other computer-supported experiences. Her focus is emotion and social connection — understanding the impact of design choices on these qualities, and figuring out how to get better at making and evaluating digital experiences that have these qualities.
