Poly’s Renowned Faculty

Polytechnic faculty educate engineers, scientists, managers, and visionaries. Some examples include:

  • NASIR MEMON, an Associate Professor of Computer Science, is leading the field of cyberspace security with his research in steganography (the practice of hiding one piece of information within another). Due to the efforts of Memon and other faculty members, NYU-Poly has been named a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education by the National Security Agency (NSA).
  • RICHARD A. GROSS ( '86), Professor of Chemical Engineering, has pioneered a way to convert environmentally friendly green plastics into liquid fuels, an innovation that will change the world we live in. He was recently awarded a multi-million-dollar government contract for his research, which could potentially change the future of how we get (and use) fuel.
  • KALLE M. LEVON, Professor and Associate Dean of Research and Intellectual Property, is fighting bioterrorism from the labs of Polytechnic Institute of NYU. His knowledge of polymers and plastics has created his reputation as a bioterrorism expert, which in turn helped to secure a $1 million grant from the Department of Defense to lead the effort in detecting biological agents.

Today, our faculty shares their knowledge through online through eNYU-Poly courses.
