Poly’s Tradition of Leadership

Polytechnic Institute of NYU is a university where approximately 1 out of every 30 graduates is a company president. We are known for producing innovators and visionaries. Some examples include:

  • JOSEPH J. JACOBS (Class of '37, '39 & '42) founded Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc., one of today's top engineering firms. His company has evolved from a one-person engineering and consulting operation to an international provider of various professional and technical services worldwide.
  • PAUL SOROS (Class of '50) changed the way ports are developed as the holder of several patents in material handling and offshore technology. He is founder and former president of Soros Associates, an international engineering firm with port development, offshore terminal and bulk handling projects in over 80 countries.
  • JEROME SWARTZ (Class of '63 & '69) and SHELLEY HARRISON (Class of '66 & '71) took consumerism to the next level with their invention of the handheld barcode laser scanner. As founders of Symbol Technologies Inc., they cut the waiting time in store lines globally, created more accurate and punctual package delivery and tracking, and met the overall needs of today's modern worker.
  • RAJIV MODY (Class of '82 & '73) Sasken, Ltd., a leading global provider of wireless communication software. One of Mody's recent innovations was providing 911 operators in New York the location of a person calling from a cell phone.

Today, we are producing leaders through ePoly’s online courses.
