AWARDS FOR MS STUDENTS IN THE ECE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering announces the
initiation of two awards for MS students in Department of
Electrical and
Computer Engineering.
The Theodor Tamir Award for Best MS Thesis in
Electrical and Computer Engineering will be selected among
graduating MS
students pursuing an MS thesis, and will be selected based on the
quality of
the thesis.
The Myron M. Rosenthal Award for Best MS Academic
Achievement
in Electrical and Computer Engineering will be chosen among all
graduating
MS students, based solely on the course work.
Each award carries a
cash
prize of $750, and will be conferred annually at the end of the spring semester. All MS students in the Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering in their final semester will be considered for the award.
Students graduating in the Fall semester will be considered for
award in the
following Spring semester. Nomination and self-nomination should be sent to
the Chair of the Graduate Standards and Curriculum Committee
(Professor Yao Wang for the year 1/06-12/06) before April 30 of each year. The
nomination
should include a copy of the student's transcript and the thesis
(for the
thesis option).
AWARDS FOR Ph.D STUDENTS IN THE ECE DEPARTMENT
ALEXANDER HESSEL AWARD FOR THE BEST Ph.D DISSERTATION
Given in memory of the late Professor Alexander Hessel, of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, to a graduate student for the most outstanding doctoral dissertation in electrical engineering. Award given annually at the end of the Spring semester. All Ph.D students who have completed their dissertations in the past year will be considered.
RICHARD ROSENTHAL AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE IN THE PH.D
QUALIFYING EXAM
Given by Professor Myron M. Rosenthal in the name of his son Richard Rosenthal (Class of 1984, BS in Electrical Engineering). Awarded to graduate students in electrical engineering for outstanding performane on the PhD qualifying examination. Award given annually at the end of the Spring semester.
