Image processing deals with digital image (including video) enhancement, analysis and compression. It is a core technology that enables various multimedia applications, including digital picture capture and editing, digital television, teleconferencing, video streaming, video archiving and retrieval, and medical imaging. This advanced certificate program is designed for working professionals who seek to acquire an in-depth understanding of various image and video processing algorithms including international standards for image and video coding. The program consists of four required courses and one elective course, each 3 credit. These courses are part of Polytechnic's existing MSEE curriculum. The courses taken can be used towards an MSEE degree if the student so chooses. The program can also be taken by regular MSEE students, who wish to focus on a specialty area beyond satisfying the general requirement for the MSEE.
