COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Graduate courses in electrial and computer engineering are offered on each campus on a regular basis, annually or in two-year or three-year cycles. Consult the Graduate Student Manual for these scheduling cycles as well as for information about day offerings and about the summer program. The electrical and computer engineering graduate mailing, sent out to continuing students prior to each registration, contains the latest information on selected topics course offerings, curriculum and course revisions.

Course number system: the courses listed are grouped in terms of the second digit which defines the academic area. The first digit represents the level:

5 -- senior/graduate level
6 -- first-year graduate level
7, 8 -- advanced courses
9 -- miscellaneous courses

Note: The last digit in each course number indicates the number of credits for this course. “3” means 3 credits, “1” means 1.5 credits, “x” means variable credits. “Credits: X:Y:Z:Q” means the class meets per week for X lecture periods, Y lab periods, Z recitation period, and earns Q credits. Each period is 50 minutes. For example: 3:0:0:3 means that the class meets for 2 ½ hr per week, without lab or recitation, and if successfully completed 3 credits are earned.

Courses in selected topics bearing the same numbers may be repeated for credit provided the topics are different, subject to adviser's approval.
