Welcome to the David Packard Center for Technology and Educational Alliances

WHO WE ARE!

The mission of Polytechnic Institute of NYU’s center is to promote the effective use of technology, to encourage the study of science and mathematics, and to develop alliances between the university and community institutions.

Goals of the Center

  • To ensure equity of availability, opportunity and access for women and underrepresented minorities in the use of computers, in information-age technology, and in the study of mathematics and science.
  • To serve as a resource for professional development of teachers to enhance learning in science, mathematics and technology.
  • To build alliances of stakeholders in the impact of information-age technology on the learning process and on social, economic and educational institutions.
  • To utilize technology as a tool to assist learning and disseminate new discoveries through publications, multimedia communications, symposia, lectures and conferences.
  • To communicate findings to influence learning in New York City and other school systems.
  • To serve as a resource to help define the local, regional and national agenda relating to the impact of information-age technology on instruction and new educational paradigms.
  • To provide opportunities for leaders and representatives from allied organizations to participate in the projects and other activities of the Center.
