Consultation
Students, staff members, and faculty members may find that they are concerned about a NYU-Poly student who seems to be distressed or struggling. If you are unsure about how to help a student or how/whether to refer that student to counseling, feel free to speak with one of our counselors. We can tell you if your concerns seem serious and we can help determine the best way to refer the student.
Self-Help Library
The Counseling Center maintains a small library of self-help books available for students to check out. Topics vary widely, and including books addressing:
- Procrastination
- Depression
- Sexuality
- Health
- Parents/Family Issues
- Childhood Sexual Abuse
- Acquaintance Rape
- Relationships
- Anger Management
- Internet Addiction
- Anxiety (social anxiety, math anxiety)

Informational Brochures
We also have many informational brochures available. Several of our brochures can be found on the wall outside of the Center door or in our waiting room, and students can stop by to pick them up. If a brochure that you want is not on display, please feel free to request it from a staff member.

Workshops
The Counseling Center provides educational workshops and training to NYU-Poly students, faculty, and staff. We can develop new workshops to address the specific needs of NYU-Poly organizations, clubs, courses, or residence hall groups.

Feel free to call a counselor to discuss the possibility of a workshop or presentation. We provide workshops throughout the year. To assure that we can accommodate your request, please make the workshop request at least TWO WEEKS prior to the workshop date.
