Inside Polytechnic’s Information Services Department (ISD)
The Polytechnic department of Information Services (ISD) reports to the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration. ISD, managed by staff from Collegis, a NYU-Poly contractor, oversees the administrative technology initiatives such as PeopleSoft as well as maintains the underlying technology infrastructure (voice and data) for the entire campus.
Academic technology is supported through:
- The provision of site licenses for software such as MicroSoft Office, MatLab, Symantec Ant-Virus, LabView, and NetG;
- Management of an open lab;
- Maintenance of the Blackboard learning system (MyPoly) servers; and
- Setup/repairs of faculty/staff Windows-based workstations.
Other IT-related initiatives such as Web services, media support, library services, and academic computing (e.g., faculty training and curriculum development) are managed by other offices on campus.
