BS MINOR IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

The minor consists of a set of four or more CS courses, with a minimum of 15 credits. Students would need to obtain a grade of C- or better in CS 1114 (Intro. to Programming and Problem Solving) and satisfy the pre-requisite requirements before enrolling in these courses. An average GPA of 2.0 or better is required in the entire minor. For transfer students, at least two of the four courses must be taken at Polytechnic Institute of NYU.

The minor is not open to CompE students. In general, a required CS course in a BS curriculum cannot be used to satisfy the course requirements in the CS Minor. Below is the list of course requirements for Electrical Engineering (EE), Technology and Information Management (T&IM), and all other majors.

For all students (except EE and T&IM students):

CS 1124 Object Oriented Programming (4 credits)
CS 2134 Data Structures and Algorithms (4 credits)
CS 2214 Computer Architecture (4 credits) OR
CS 2204 Digital Logic and State Machine Design (4 credits) OR
Approved CS Elective (3 or 4 credits)
Approved CS Elective (3 or 4 credits)

Total number of credits = 15 or more

For EE and T&IM students:

CS 2134 Data Structures and Algorithms (4 credits)
CS 2214 Computer Architecture (4 credits)
Approved CS Electives (a total of 7 or more credits)

Total number of credits = 15 or more
