The fundamental areas of research include DNA chips, genetics to redesign catalytic proteins, bio-detection, medicinal chemistry, biocatalysis, engineered surfaces, nanoprobes of cells and proteins, drug delivery, polymers in medicine, virus detection and molecular analysis, polymer crystallization, and chiral recognition. The University houses the Polymer Research Institute, a leader in the synthesis, characterization, structure, processing, properties, and applications of polymeric materials.
