The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering offers a graduate program leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Engineering.

The objective of the PhD degree in Chemical Engineering is to provide advanced knowledge of fundamentals and analytical skills in emerging fields in chemical engineering. Research skills are refined, and the candidate performs an in-depth, basic  study to advance the understanding of a specific chemical engineering topic. The department faculty plan programs of study individually with each candidate. The study toward a doctorate is carried out under a guidance committee appointed by the Office of Research and Graduate Studies.
