The Wasserman Center for Career Development at NYU-Poly

INprep

The NYU-Poly INprep program is designed to help students prepare for internships and cooperative education work experiences. With a focus on communication, professional skill development, and understanding global work environments, the program will create stronger student candidates for professional roles. Students who complete the INprep program will benefit from a hands-on interactive approach that allows them to put what they learn into practice immediately with the guidance of the Wasserman Center at NYU-Poly.

Students will attend one of each of the following sessions.

INprep 1:
An interactive seminar focused on written business communication tools (resumes/cover letters/employer outreach emails). In this session students will learn the importance of targeted communication in the global workplace.
INprep 2:
A targeted practice session focused on professionalism and verbal communication, in which students have the opportunity to perfect and develop their personal pitch and learn to present professionally in interviews and at networking events.
INprep Conversations:
Students will have the chance to put all they’ve learned into practice with a mock networking event facilitated in partnership with The Writing Center. The session will focus on cultural differences and how to approach them professionally.

Throughout all three sessions, a focus on the global workplace will serve as a starting point for all discussion. With students coming to NYU-Poly from around the globe, engaging in dialogue about the differences between work environments throughout the world will lead to greater cultural competency among students in the program.
