Committees

PIAA committees work throughout the year to build support for important programs and initiatives that improve the NYU-Poly experience for both alumni and current students. All alumni members are encouraged to provide feedback and support for the ad-hoc committees. Please send an e-mail to alumni@poly.edu to get involved.

Audit Committee (standing)

The Audit Committee functions as the body to prepare the annual PIAA budget for submission and approval by the International Board of Directors, to audit the accounts of the PIAA as required, and to make recommendation of investment strategies for the PIAA funds.

Awards Committee (standing)

Bylaws Committee (standing)

The Bylaws Committee is charged with reviewing and/or recommending changes as required to the bylaws of the Polytechnic Institute Alumni Association and any of its sections/chapters.

Community Relations Committee (ad-hoc)

This committee is charged with interacting with alumni volunteers who are interested in participating in volunteer activities that give back to our community.

Continuing Education Committee (ad-hoc)

This committee is charged with creating and maintaining volunteer alumni presenter, lecturer and educator guidelines, interacting with fellow alumni educators and encouraging their participation in PIAA educational webinar programs and other PIAA educational activities.

Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Career Development Committee (ad-hoc)

This committee is charged with interacting with alumni entrepreneurs, innovators and industry leaders to inspire their participation as volunteers within the NYU-Poly community.  Committee members actively participate in and support NYU-Poly and NYU initiatives including the NYU-Poly Entreprenuership Club, the NYU Innovation Fund, and NYU-Polys Incubators.

Fundraising Committee (ad-hoc)

This committee is charged with working closely with Poly's Office of Development & Alumni Relations to support and enhance fundraising efforts for NYU-Poly, with a focus on unrestricted gifts from alumni to the Polytechnic Fund and Promise Scholarship Fund.

Marketing & Communications Committee (ad-hoc)

This committee is charged with facilitating fellowship and communication among and between PIAA members and teh NYU-Poly community.  The committee is also responsible for marketing the benefits of the PIAA and achievements of it's members.

Nominating Committee (standing)

This standing committee of the PIAA oversees the nomination and election process for the PIAA. Members work collectively to nominate individuals as officers or directors in the PIAA and coordinate the presentation of the election slate in the spring issue of Cable magazine.

Scholarship Committee (standing)

This committee, on an annual basis, selects undergraduate students to receive Polytechnic Institute Alumni Association scholarships.  Funding for such scholarships is determined by the International Board of Directors.

Student Relations Committee (ad-hoc)

The purpose of this committee is to facilitate the involvement of alumni volunteers interested in participating in student-focused activities such as individual mentoring or advising student clubs and organizations.
