Alumni Awards

Each year, the Polytechnic Institute Alumni Association honors alumni who have made notable contributions to the alumni association, our esteemed institution, or to the world of science and technology as a whole. 

The Awards Committee of the PIAA invites nominations for the following awards:

  • Distinguished Alumnus/na Award
    Nominees for this award must be graduates of NYU-Poly, Polytechnic University, Polytechnic Institute of New York, or Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. This award honors an alumnus/alumna who has attained outstanding leadership and accomplishments in the fields of engineering or technology, or has demonstrated notable contributions to the world of science through invention, innovation and entrepreneurship (i2e).

  • Dedicated Alumnus/na Award
    This award is for special recognition of individuals who have made significant contributions to the PIAA and/or NYU-Poly. It recognizes individuals whose efforts and dedication have gone above and beyond the call of duty and whose contributions have had a positive impact on PIAA and/or NYU-Poly. 

Submitting a Nomination

Nominations must be submitted by December 31 for an award nominee to be considered for the upcoming year. All submitted nominations should be accompanied by as much information as possible on:

  • the nominee's qualifications, leadership contributions, and the reasons why you believe the individual deserves special recognition; and
  • a detailed biography of the nominee.

Note: All nominations and deliberations related to these awards are highly confidential, and only the winners will be announced.  As the nomination process is relatively informal, additional research will be conducted subsequent to the nomination.  Only those nominees recommended by the PIAA Awards Committee and approved by the International Board of Directors will be announced.
